Words from Dr. Carroll… Exhibition
I am SO proud of our 5th graders who presented their full Exhibition Projects this week! Each student stood before their parents, peers, mentors, school administrators, and others and gave a 20-30 minute oral presentation. During this time, they referenced their visual display, a tri-fold with research results shown both in written and graphic form. The tri-fold also included their personal statement and perspectives. Many students had created surveys and they presented these along with survey results. In addition to the tri-fold, each student also shared a technological presentation; in either PowerPoint or Prezi form. These oral, visual and technological presentations were impressive! They demonstrated the depth of knowledge, facility with communication, level of thinking, and independence that our students have achieved through their study in our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.
The final public Exhibition for these 5th graders will be tonight, Thursday, April 30th from 7-8:30pm. We invite ALL Seneca Academy community members to join us! This will be a time to view their visual presentations, talk with the students about their Exhibition journey, and celebrate their accomplishments.
Seneca Spotlight: Extended Day 4’s Field Trip
Preschool 4’s programs at Seneca Academy are always great, but the Extended Day 4’s have more opportunities to explore beyond the school. This week they visited Black Hills Park:
Seneca Cares: Help for Nepal
Ms. Luk’s fourth grade hosted a bake sale to support survivors of the earthquake in Nepal. All proceeds will be donated through AmeriCares.
They have collected over $380 dollars worth of donations to date.
The fourth graders are just finishing a unit of inquiry on natural disasters, so they have a deeper understanding of the impact of this earthquake and of people’s needs following a natural disaster.
