Words from Dr. Carroll…
Hopefully, we won’t have as many school closings this year as last, but we need to be ready just in case! The following is from our Parent Handbook (page 12) and describes our policies and procedures for communicating school closings or delayed openings:
Parents are strongly encouraged to promptly inform the school of current home, work, and cell telephone numbers as well as email addresses. In addition, parents must provide at least two local emergency contacts to the school. This ensures that we can contact you or a designee in the event of an emergency.
The Head of School or her designate determines the need to close school or delay opening due to snow or other weather emergencies or facilities problems. Information about school closings can be heard on radio stations WTOP and WMAL and on television channels 7 (ABC) and 8 (NewsChannel). The most current information can be found atwww.schoolsout.com. These sources are notified by 6:30 am about the school’s decision to delay or close. In addition, all efforts are made to have current emergency information on our website www.SenecaAcademy.org.
Note: Seneca Academy does NOT necessarily follow decisions of Montgomery County Schools regarding delay or cancellation.
Seneca Highlight: Ms. Hall’s 2nd Grade visits Covanta
As a continuation of the 2nd grade’s unit of inquiry “People can establish practices in order to sustain the earth’s finite resources” they visited Covanta, a provider of sustainable waste and energy solutions. The students learned how they use waste to the fullest to preserve resources and generate clean energy.
